Digital Media Learning Outcome 4 -Audio

A little summary of what we went over today in my latest Learning Outcome was about mostly about audio, Audio is any sound we can hear.

We done a little brainstorm of what audio things we can think off as an example music, film, speeches, broadcast radio etc..

Before we did the learning outcome I didnt know much about what hertz (HZ) was, but I know its a unit that measures frequency, is how often something happens, so in sound this means the number of sound waves that pass a point.

Ultrasound is sound or other vibrations having an ultrasonic frequency, particularly as used in medical imaging.

“Example” – Woman’s pregnancy scan

Infrasound sometimes referred to as low-frequency sound, is sound that is lower in frequency than 20 Hz or cycles per second, the “normal” limit of human hearing.

“Example” – Whales or elephants

We then went over what foley sound ,Location sound , Wild track , voiceover , special FX and what they are like such as foley sound is where someone creates the sounds in the studio to match the scene in a film.

We had another look at audio equipment such as

Wind Muff – An accessory microphone to reduce noise

Broadcast headset – Wireless headset that you can listen to audio or to communicate

Boompole – To record audio, with a long range ro record audio

Lapel Mic – wireless mic
